Are dvds safe to be stored in cd albums?

I have acquired a lot of new dvds the past few months and I don't have the space for them. I had a friend in the past that kept his in one of those cd albums. Can those be used to store dvds too? I don't really know if there's a difference between coating on cds and dvds. Thanks in advance for help!
