How does itunes and other music stores get the rights to the songs they sell? How do majore music stores, like itunes, which allow u to downlaod a song for a dollar, get the copyrights to those songs? Also, how much do those copyrights cost?

Why is it that music mega stores in the United States provide very little of international music? My uncle always complain that Americans are always self absorbed. I noticed that even bigger music stores like Virgin have a very small 'international music' section. I'm wondering where to buy Korean/Japanese/Chinese music without having to order it online. Obviously I can't go to any of the countries. I live in Southern California. Any suggestions? And don't send me to China town. I don't want any illegal copies.

What are some good online music stores that does not have as many restrictions on songs as itunes? I am a mac user and I have an ipod so itunes would be the seem like the natural choice but I am frustrated by the restrictions on the songs once they are purchased. why are there no music stores anywhere anymore? I live in Pittsburg, California. I've been to two malls. One in Antioch, and one in Concord. None of them have video stores. All of the Sam Goodys and FYEs closed down last year. Even Suncoast is gone. Back in December, the Tower Records store in Concord, California closed down. Now, there's nowhere to go to buy CDs anymore. All there we have now is Wal Mart, Target, Best Buy, and K-Mart. But they only sell two types of music. Rap and Mexican. This sucks!!! Why did they close down so many music stores? There aren't as many book stores anymore too. The nearest bookstore by where I live is Barnes and Noble, but that's in Brentwood. Why Do They Have To Have Music In Retail Stores? Most stores you go into these days play music. Only problem with that is employees have to interrupt it often to make an announcement or to ask a fellow worker to come up to the register. Too often they interrupt a song I like. Wouldn't it be better to just have no music at all?
